The first level of self-awareness we see here is of us as our dog. That’s the level of self-awareness that we experience every day, and that we should remember to keep learning. We look at our dog and see this dog is our friend. We look at the tree next to our dog and see this tree is our friend. We look at the wall next to our dog and see this wall is our friend. The next level of self-awareness we see is of us as an elephant. And that’s the level of self-awareness that we see every day. We see the elephant as an intelligent friend.
